Taking the Needed Break

Some of you may know that I've taken a couple of months off from blogging. I wanted to take the time to finish a couple of non-fiction projects that had been dragging on for a number of years.

Additionally, I wanted to rethink how useful it was to devote time to a platform that had been falling off in readership of late.

I do believe blogs are still viable but readership and to a certain extent interaction with the readers has fallen off considerably. One thing I have loved doing is sharing those pieces of history that I found through my various research projects. The question is, is the time I spend writing equal to the benefit I receive by getting the information out to the world? Or, is the time better spent preparing manuscripts that generate income? I don't know the answer but the questions are there.

As to why I took time off, I managed to get my nonfiction projects finished, published, and out into the world. The first project was on early women doctors that practiced in Colorado Springs Colorado and were buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Now that I have that first book finished I feel confident enough to delve deeper into the subject and create a much longer in-depth book about these women who ventured into what might be called unknown territory. Below is the book and the link in case anyone would like to know more.

The second project was a series of 52 Haiku Poems and Photos from my various walks in the region. It combined two of my favorite things, sharing photos and writing poems. The book and link are below.

I also started a newsletter of thoughts and tips on substack. It allows me to talk about things that don't always work in a blog post. Here is a link in case anyone is interested. Newsletter - Substack

Until next time, I
would enjoy hearing your thought on blogging, connecting with readers, and what you are working on.
