My dad used to set the linot...Loved the old adds!! My dad used to set the linotype for a weekly newspaper up until about 1965, then he began to use a computer. It was fascinating to see him type out letters backwards so when it was run through a printing press it would be copied correctly. They made metal slugs of words, then put them in columnar setups, place them into newspaper frames that would be set into the printing press.
